Collectors have affectionately nicknamed this style of fan a Pancake. The big motor housing sits like a sideways stack of pancakes and is supported by the yoke frame. In our house this particular fan is known as Big Daddy Fun-Bucks. It was a name that was absurdly heard on a mystery television show.
Adorned with a drop-ring brass cage, open wire terminals on the backside, brass oil cups on the front and rear of the fan, and a rear brass bearing cap. A ribbed base with minor foot tabs support the structure. The 12" used the same frame, except the 16" had to create more height, so there was the addition of the honey dipper in the frame neck.
